I have a pretty basic layout, 10x7 table with a loop and a spur with another spur on that. Will my Lionel CW-80 transformer be enough to power the track. (Note that it’s not powering any accessories, the accessories will be connected to something completely different. It’s just powering the FasTrack loop and spur.) Will it be enough to power it? image

It’s a new Legacy steam model from last years catalog, I’m new to Legacy but I’m 99% sure that Pullmor was used in postwar/TMCC. Again, I’m relatively new to model railroading but the Lionel 2019 Vol. 2 Catalog says, and I quote, “Powerful maintenance-free motor with momentum flywheel.”

That would be a can motor. Lionel hasn't used Pullmor's  for several years.

....sure that Pullmor was used in postwar/TMCC. ...”

Open frame motors were used on postwar engines, and later the "PullMor" was a featured motor, better than the older open frames.  AC "PullMor" motors were used by Lionel in the TMCC engines from the 1990's (I have a couple of TMCC GP-9s), and even beyond 2000- for example the Century Club 773's had PullMor motors.

Later-issue TMCC locomotives began to feature DC motors, and Odyssey speed control.   So- you can't say the TMCC products were all either PullMor or DC motor powered- they were a mix.

ONLY engines with a DC motor can have Odyssey- speed control.  IMO speed control is a big feature, since it allows running on a fixed 15-18v AC; and that cuts way down on track power variations, and the speed you set is the speed you get.

Today as far as I know ALL Lionel (and other) three-rail locomotives are driven by DC can motors- the AC current from the track is converted to DC current onboard.

7/11 Added:  If Lionel says "powerful maintenance-free motor"- as far as I know that's "Lioneleze" for a can motor/ vertical drive (China drive).
