This is a pretty much a repeat of what was on my wish list for 2021 V1 as none of my wishes made the catalog:

- Strasburg 90:  would be nice to finally have in O scale. I don't think this would be as 'niche' of an engine to make as Strasburg is considered one of (if not the) most quintessential tourist railroad in the US. Many have fond memories there and I can see this being a good seller. The MTH SRC coaches sold out in just 2 days at my LHS (they ordered 20+ in addition to preorders). I could see the 8618 and camelback not being the best sellers as many are waiting for 90 as it has been teased here and on other sites.

- PRR P5: (did MTH ever manufacture the ones that they advertised in their 2020 V1 catalog? Haven't seen them advertised on any LHS websites ) I would like someone to produce this again (with or without the MTH tooling), unlikely that it will be Lionel though. Yes, 3rd rail has offered these before but I wasn't as involved in the hobby during their latest offering.

- PRR MP54: an old K-line tooling that Lionel made years ago under the K-line by Lionel name. It would be nice to see these be produced again with some upgrades.

- PRR K4s with short haul tenders: the same ones they did in 2011. Prewar, also not a fan of the long haul tendered ones they have made in the last few years. Given it's been 10 years now, I could see them reissuing this in the not-so-distant future, if not this year.

- PRR M1s (anyone starting to notice a certain theme here?? ): same as they have done in 2014. Like the K4's it's been a while since so I could see these on Lionel's "to-do list".

- I would also be interested in another run of the VL GG1's in a few years (similar to how they did a re-run of the 2-10-10-2's) as they are really nice but hard to find now in the 5 strip DGLE.

The PRR MP54 set from 1992 is actually a better source for tooling than the K-line tooling that is not at all close to an MP54.   I have owned both K-line MP54ish offerings in 18" and 15".

While the old Lionel tooling lacks some details, when I compared it to my Custom Brass BM54, it scales out properly and has the correct proportions and the key details.  I am planning on converting my old Lionel set to 2rail at some point as it really isn't that big of a project to make it into a decent scale model. New steps, A few added details, scale brass pantographs, scale couplers and pilot fabrications, interiors in lieu of window figure strips, and adding a DC motor, scale wheels, and maybe DCC.  Granted it's 30 year old tooling and likely lost somewhere, but it's still good.

Which P5a are you are you looking for?  Modified or box-cab?  MTH did make both as has 3rd Rail.  I have the box-cab in 3rd Rail and an MTH version of the modified.  As much of a shill I am for 3rd Rail, my Overland P5a modified made by Ajin is better than all of them combined.  If I ever get to going through my MTH one to make sure it still runs properly, I'll be selling it as I don't model PRR in 3 Rail anymore.

However, now that we are on a PRR theme, I'd like to see an accurate model of PRR D16sb 1223.  That is the locomotive I rode behind when I was last on the Strasburg.  It was a long time ago.  In 2 rail of course.

I would love to see some new road names (Akron, Canton, Youngstown if anybody specific is reading this haha).

It would be cool to see some steel industry offerings but I would imagine sales are way too small for that because it's such a niche thing.

A consolidation of control systems or no new systems would be good in the next catalog. I mean that lightheartedly but it would be good to let the dust settle from LC, LC 2.0 +, Legacy. Just stick with something for a little while.

I probably won't buy any locomotives unless something REALLY fantastic is brought out. I guess that would have to be an Allegheny, triplex, Y6b, or a specialty locomotive that I just gotta have. I pretty much maxed out the railroad budget in the first catalog release.

I definitely will be excited to see what they come up with!!

Streamlined Commodore Vanderbilt scale

NYC Streamlined Mercury loco and scale length passenger cars

C&O L1 scale

RDC's scale including length

scale length Amfleet and viewliners with kinetic coupling

Susquehanna E8's

NJTransit scale length bilevels.

Charger locomotives

CalTrains "Baby bullet" locomotives

New York and Greenwood Lake Geep

Delaware Coast Line (not sure if it was a C420 or an RS something)

South Shore MU's

Metra scale bilevel electrics

Center beam lumber flats scale length with proper truck placement and kinetic couplers

Open auto racks scale length with proper truck placement and kinetic couplers

tourist railroad gondolas with bench seating and steps at both ends to the adjoining passenger cars.

Dining cars without sounds

Hoppers used as buffer cars.

Ringling Bros Circus train offer one or two scale cars each year.

That's enough for now.

2 Rail

I am kind of on the fence with this one. If Lionel were to do 2 rail right meaning in locomotives they have fixed pilots, full length handrails, no high water pants, fully flanged proper sized/flanged drivers to 2 rail standards, and DCC/sound. With their scale freight cars they should have Kadee coupler pads and please sell a 2 rail truck that simply screws on. I don’t even understand the complicated way to 2 rail a Lionel car (using Lionel wheel sets) and only certain cars can be 2 railed with their wheelsets. If yes to all that then by all means it would be great if Lionel would jump into the 2 rail side but I seriously doubt it will happen.

Interesting about the '92 tooling being more accurate! I've never gotten a close look at either in person but was turned off by the 'silhouette windows' on the older version compared to interiors on the newer one. Question: isn't the headlight in the wrong position as well? I seem to recall a video of it being mounted at the base of the door. Do you have any opinion on the MTH MP54's? I've been looking for those, they look nice from what I've seen on Youtube.

In terms of P5a, I would go for the boxcab... I've given up looking for the 3rd rail version as it's impossible to find. I've seen a few MTH boxcab versions on Ebay but they all had Zinc rot.

I second your request for 1223! MTH dropped the ball when they did the D16d over the D16sb. While we're at it, we might as well add PRR E7s 7002 (8063, not the original E2 7002) to the list as well!

A return of F40s. New liveries like (NJ Transit, Metro-North, Grand Canyon RR, Rio Grand Ski Train, Coaster, Metra, MBTA) and many others would be surefire sellers............... If only acquiring the logo licensing could be as easy as rattling off ideas...

I'm in for a return of the Legacy Moguls. A legacy Strasburg 89 would be awesome.

These items don't require toolings to be made from the ground up, so I think these could be more probable than let's say an "acs-64"

The F40s will be coming soon. Ryan said this in the latest catalog show.

Re-run of the Legacy Berkshires.

A NYC Mercury would be cool.

Some smaller/earlier engines, like a 2-8-0, 4-8-0, or Decapod.

I saw a picture of some N&W F-units (ABA) for sale online that took me by surprise; I thought N&W never bought them. They had a blue/yellow color scheme (same colors as N&W GP7s). No idea the history behind them but models of those would be interesting. Also pretty much anything N&W.

A Legacy module or adapter that can interface with Bluetooth, so we can control LionChief and LionChief Plus (with electro coupler functionality) trains. Maybe something like the Legacy PowerMaster, which allows the Legacy remote to control conventional engines.

A Legacy or LionChief 2.0 conversion/upgrade kit. I can dream!

Wow! Such great ideas. Here's a few of mine:

-Vision Line Wabtec Battery Electric Loco and BNSF ET44C4 set and some modern freight cars

-Vision SD70ACe-T4s

-ET44ACs

-Vision Siemens Chargers and matching passenger car sets

-Vision Triplex

-ATSF/BNSF SD75M/I

-Fastrack Turntable

-Fastrack 2-track truss bridge

-More accessories w/ Command-Control or Bluetooth

-Legacy-controlled scale Intermodal Crane

-Vision Modern Reefers, Boxcars, and Tank Cars

-TankTrain Cars w/ Sounds

-F45/FP45 Locos

-The AEC Geep is a great idea. I also want the Phantom locos and passenger cars. Maybe the Phantom locos could have separate-sale freight sets that match the locos.

-Fastrack Bascule Bridge (1 and 2 tracks) based on the truss bridge design

-ATSF Super Chief and El Capitan passenger sets

I was thinking of that too. It’s time for a LC2.0 reissue of the Phantom locomotives. Perhaps in black.

I'm not much of a joiner in these frequent "what should they make" threads. The list of locos are endless and, unfortunately, the vast majority never see the light of day.  But I do like the idea that's been mentioned several times about Lionel producing some fun accessories. Seems like a great untapped area especially in the category of Postwar remakes. How about it, Lionel?

SIRT, please put your comments outside of my quote box.

Just an FYI and something I would like to be fixed.  When using an iPad to reply while quoting a previous post, if anything is changed inside the quote (for example, text and pictures are deleted), I have found it impossible to get the cursor back out of the quote box.  I have had to cancel reply’s and make certain to type my reply before deleting anything from the quote box.  Maybe this is what happened with SIRT’s reply.
