A look at Weyerhaeuser's Columbia & Cowlitz shortline as well as the "Woods Railroad" based in Longview/Kelso, Washington. The highlight of this line is the huge timber trestle approach to the Cowlitz River. In 2001 a portion of this trestle burned and was replaced with a more modern steel structure. These scenes from 1997 and 1990 predate the fire and illustrate it at its classic best. A selection of passing BN, UP and Amtrak trains rounds out the coverage. Note the ex-RDG GP-7 on the Woods line train.
