As many of you are aware, the MTH DCS app is a great way to run primarily DCS equipment, but also Legacy equipment if the correct setup is used. You can access controls for quilling horns, labor bias, smoke volume and a few other features. However, incredibly, one of the most basic features does not work: Legacy diesel RPM's are stuck at a flat idle. There is no automatic RPM mode. MTH has long known about this bug (and many others) but they have not addressed these issues.

One way to deal with this is to input manual RPM adjustments using AUX1, 3 or AUX1,6. But this is really annoying.

There is one other way around this issue. Many Legacy engines support three RPM modes: Automatic, Manual, and Speed. Some newer Legacy engines only support Automatic and Manual. If your engine supports "Speed RPM Mode", you can press the AUX1, BRAKE key sequence while the locomotive is stopped. A distinctive "clunk" sound will be heard. Now the engine RPM's can ramp up and down with the locos absolute speed. One warning though - don't try the AUX1, BRAKE sequence using the DCS App. Nothing will happen - yet another bug in the app. Instead, pick up your CAB1 or CAB2 remote to key in the AUX1, BRAKE sequence. Then go back to the app and enjoy!

This works great for engines with speed RPM mode. Unfortunately, many newer Legacy engines seem to be missing this feature.

Just one more way to achieve better operation while hoping that MTH steps up with a fix for the app.

Greg,

Nothing will happen - yet another bug in the app.

I'm very happy that you have found a way around your problem. However, this is not a"bug" in the DCS App at all. It's merely a small feature (although of great importance to you) that hasn't yet been implemented in the app.

As MTH has pointed out previously on the forum, this feature is on a list to be implemented in the near future.
