I am sure most people reading these posts have noticed the recent deluge of beautiful products being presented for our collective reviews and purchase by traditional and new toy train manufacturers.

I am writing to add my voice to any of those who notice the sub-par packaging and occasional defect in workmanship which accompany some of these new items.

I am retired, as are many who read this Forum, but am also definitely not fluent in electronics or repair of small plastic parts, both of which would prove useful to ensure a new working item can be placed on the layout. I believe it would be wise not to mention the manufacturer specifically, whose shoddy workmanship has led to this post, but a casual reader of toy train publications cannot miss their recent uptick in advertising.

Please let our collective voices be heard that many of us remember the consistent quality of American- made toy trains and cannot support any less in this expensive but outstanding hobby. Lower prices of accessories and support buildings does not justify inconsistencies in packaging or the ability of the product to work as intended.

If I were to enclose a picture of an example of the above, it would show a lighted truck attached to a small, beautiful garage, with only one working headlight, fresh out of the box.

I cannot afford the monetary expense or disappointment of anything less than the quality I experienced from the time when I was attracted to our hobby as a child.
