Folks

I'm essentially a Christmas season poster, that hopes to go year round, by joining a club this year. I'm sure there are many. I'm also pretty sure we ask more basic questions, than the seasoned hobbyist. How do you clean? How do you Lube? Whats the best _____?

I think these are great questions, each time they are asked. I try to search, and yes I am a proponent of searching first, but there is something of a community building experience, in asking the question yourself. When these questions are asked, they promote great discussion (IMO). They also seem to inspire someone, to once again remind a newb, or just someone looking to be part of the hobby, that the search bar exists and that topics new to some, are old to many. I totally get that  reaction, but I don't always see it as adding to the discussion. I don't know many internet users, that are surprised the search function exists

So, along those lines, assuming Rich would be willing to add it, would a forum ala the electrical forum, be welcome and useful?

The 3-Rail Forum is for the discussion of 3-Rail Trains...not suggestions about the administration of this forum. That is what THIS forum is for.

We already have a LOT of sub-forums catering to the various specialty interest areas within the hobby.

The "Advanced Search" function on this forum is VERY powerful. I think you'll find threads about the various subjects you want to research by proper use of that function.
