Just a thought, but if a custom run could be done of this, would anyone be interested??

An idea I had earlier could be a “what if” scheme of a Virginian Railway Class A. In real life, the Virginian tried several time to get the N&W to build them some locomotives, A’s and Y’s in particular! The N&W never agreed to an order for them and the VGN ended up going with C&O inspired steam power. When the Virginian had an opportunity to grab some former N&W power though, they jumped on it (they were able to acquire several Y3’s that had gone from the N&W to the Santa Fe during WW2)! The Virginian at one point even include a “Virginian Class A” in one of their company posters!

just an idea…

Or, if it’d be better, a run of an early version of the N&W #1218 with the boiler tube pilot and smaller tender? It’s something that has never been made in any scale as far as I know!

Well, to be honest, I don't really want to fight for my share of the N&W Class A market.... I am not that smart to get the right one - So - my plan is a Class A in dark Brunswick green and lettered for the Pennsylvania. Similar to 2231480 except the cast pilot and roller bearing rods (blackened). Road number #3701?

That sounds awesome! It reminds me of a video by K&L Trainz of a “What if” version of an A Class had the Pennsy gone with that over the C&O 2-10-4 that led to the development of the J1a. I’d be interested in that! 👍 Do you think Lionel could do a Keystone number plate on the front kinda like they did with the Legacy Pennsy Y3 version from a couple years ago to give it that extra PRR feel?

Here’s the video K&L Trainz did of the “what if” PRR 2-6-6-4: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rdRwdGMqDTc

I just realized the #3701 was actually a PRR I1s class 2-10-0, so maybe a number in the 6500’s or 6600’s? Doesn’t seem to have been any Pennsy steam locomotives with those cab numbers! Maybe the #6510? @MrMuffin'sTrains

MrMuffin, are you planning to have some gold stripes and a red keystone on the tender kinda like the early Pennsy T1’s? Just trying to get a better idea of what it might look like? And any chance for a keystone plate on the boiler front?

The cab number in the video shows 6624... maybe 6601?
