would you be an order buyer at York?

York is so big, it would really slow someone down if they had to look for a number of specific items for others. Then there would be the concern of right/lowest  price?, right condition? Not for me, thanks.

Unless it was someone I knew outside the forum probably not.

I don't want to buy something that is not what the person intended and have them ticked off.

I did that once for a nephew: in hind site I regretted it very much.  To try my best to help him out I spent all, OK, most, of my time looking for his 3 items.  I landed up not getting 1/2 of what was on my on list.

Plus, if you have a conscience at all, you feel guilty if you don't give it your best shot.

I'll casually keep an eye out for items for other attendees if I know a friend is looking for something, but as to actual purchase, not usually.

I did this once for a local friend who was looking for Boy Scouts Eagle Scout boxcars.  He had been at the meet, but did not notice them.  Since we live near one another, I called him and told him what price was being asked for them, and he was appreciative that I picked them up for him.  There was very low risk in terms of it  not being what he wanted though, being new production and a very specific item.

The show is for those who are physically present. Many participants exhaust a lot of time and money to get to the show. They should have first crack at the goods that are for sale, not a person at the other end of a cell phone.

Mr. BURFLE sir, You must not have any fun at York if no one knows who you are. How do you interact with friends at York? Don't you ever introduce yourself to people you talk to there???? I just don't understand. I am friend's with many of the people that you must know. They live right near you. Oh I forgot, I agree with what you said above.

... at what commission/end buyer's premium, shipping fees, guaranteed end buyer's acceptance? 

And to think that I can ask an order buyer to purchase $100,000 worth of cattle sight unseen and be more than happy, yet we are afraid to get our  toes wet for a couple of hundred worth of a scarce train car.

I shop at Auctions for some of you...I would gladly do it for any TRUSTWORTHY member of this Forum...as York is 50 minutes away.  No tirekickers!!!
