RickO - Would you (or anyone else on this Forum) happen to know the 'individual' item number for this particular engine? Not the 'set' number.
I realize this may be diifficult to answer (since you don't own the set) and in my experience the Lionel Price and Rarity Guides don't normally list the individual item numbers of a set. However, if someone is able to provide the specific item number of this particular engine it may assist in your quest to locate one. Just a thought.

I put it in the title not in the post ( just added it) The individual loco item# is 6-38041
Thanks for your help Summerdale Junction . However the 28072 is the separate sale version with class lights and scullin drivers.
I prefer the more accurate appearance of the 38041, no class lights . I also prefer boxpok drivers to the Scullins on the 28072. The polished steam cylinder caps are also a bonus.
Rick, S&W has the boxpoks that Lionel offered for 5444. At this time you could still fill the holes after removing the class lights. Possibly in the future Lionel will offer replacement fronts for the soecial order J3s but so far zip, nada, zilch.
