Too cool, Bill.  Though I'm not sure about the cab chatter.  Who's layout were you operation it on?  Hi-rail?     I kept straining to see the turnouts.

please do bill..in time  I want to switch over to DCC...some of the guys are having proublem on ac opertion havi ng power serges and blowing there railsound boards...never heard of guys having proublems like that..

The layout belongs to Tommy Robichaud of the Bristol Club. Its all American Models code 148 flex track with hand laid closed frog turnouts so that he can run both scale and hirail. The layout is designed for both continuous running and for full operations with schedules and switch lists. We typically run two northbound and 2 southbound trains, with a yardmaster and dispatcher. There are switchers assigned to several yards to help with the switching and also to act as helpers up the long 2+% grade. He adds to the carnival every year. Bill, the pictures bring back memories.  I was fortunate to see the layout in person when at the 2008 NASG Convention at Lowell.  All the circus activity was neat and the trains ran flawlessly that night.  Thanks for posting the link.

Fred Rouse at S Scale Locomotive and Supply is offering a Y-3 scale conversion service which replaces all 32 hirail wheels with NASG RP-25 code 110 contour wheels. As part of the scale conversion process, Fred will also upgrade the software to DCC enabled for a $75 charge.

 

Fred isn't currently set up to do a standalone software upgrade, so I'm setting up to offer the software only upgrade to hirail folks who don't need the scale conversion. I'm still testing the process, and hope to be ready to go in a week or two. I'd be interested in how many people might want such an upgrade.

Bill would you also be able to do an O scale conversion? 

No, sorry. I don't know the status of DCC for O scale, Jon will have to comment on that. The Y3 conversion is possible only because the hardware is DCC capable, and Jon has made the DCC enabled code available to Fred and myself. The code only applies to the S scale Y-3 as far as I know.
