I'm in the planning stages of my building a yard.  Actually, I have a design and have done some preliminary work. I've worked out a diode matrix for turnout control, track power switching and turnout position feedback.  I'm rethinking the diode matrix turnout control.    I have DCS and some AIU's.   I haven't used the route function.  Can't I simply use the route function to position the yard turnouts?   For example, I create a route for yard lane I.   When I select Route Yard 1, the turnouts will automatically align to direct the train in or out of Yard lane 1.    There may be an issue of current draw if all turnouts change state at once ?  I'm not even sure if you can change all the turnout states at once ?

A route should control all the turnouts.  I don't know for sure how sophisticated the DCS route function is, when you do a route with Legacy, it sequences the turnouts one at a time with your chosen delay to complete the route setting.  I use it for clearing my mainline, a couple of button presses and I know all the switches are aligned.

My yard has manual throws, so the route is determined manually.
