Last June 28th we took the Coast Starlight from Oakland to Seattle, we boarded the slightly late train and our rooms were not yet ready, the attendant asked that we wait in the parlor car until they were. Thus we, my wife, myself, and our 10 & 11 year old sat in the car has the city on bay faded into the distance. This was our first overnight on a train, my first in a sleeper, and middle leg of our 6,000 miles by rail, trip from LA to Cincinnati, with stops in San Francisco, Yosemite, Napa, Seattle, Glacier National Park, & Chicago.
