I previously asked, and got some great answers to, the question of why someone would want to run the Legacy and TMCC command bases together. The bottom line being that one could use the Cab1 to operate TMCC engines if one wanted to.

I understand that I can connect Legacy to an MTH WIU and a TIU using the appropriate Y-Cable and MTH Cable and run the Legacy engines as TMCC engines from my smart device. I understand that I can also run Legacy engines in Legacy mode (as opposed to TMCC mode) through my smart device using a Lionel SER2 module with the correct cable (I have this up and working now, thanks to Barry's book).

BUT...

Can I also connect a TMCC Base to the Legacy base (via the cable that comes with Legacy) and operate TMCC locomotives via the Cab1 or smart device, as well as run Legacy engines in Legacy mode and DCS engines all through my smart device?

I did not find this in Barry's book (as it is probably a really ridiculous question), but as I seem to have all of the appropriate components I wondered if it were possible.

The answer is, “yes, you can use both command bases together”.

Use the Y cable included with Legacy to connect both the TIU and the TMCC base to the Legacy base or the SER2.

I now have everything connected. I am in the process of tying down wires now.

Everything has been tested except for the TMCC Command Base...

...when I find the Cab 1, I will test it!
