Of course, the one and only. Last York broadcast he was talking about the old days of York to Ken and about his grandfather. That and some other things which were great stories.

Dave, I missed the first Virtual York for some reason, but was reasonably sure you meant the one and only!    His store is in nearby New Castle, so I have met him there a few times.  As you probably know, he has a great Christmas layout he opens up to the public for a couple months around Christmas.  When I have walked past him at York, there was always several guys there talking, having a great time.  I didn't wait to say hello, since I can at his store.  I always enjoy reading Lou's column in that other magazine.  He is never at a loss for a great story!!  Lou is a real asset to the hobby!!

I'll make it a point to catch this Virtual York and see who Ken has on and what he has to show us.

Jay, My brother went to Slippery Rock in the late ‘70s.  I recall he said the Western kids classified all the Philly area kids as being from New Jersey no matter which side of the Delaware they lived on.  🤪  I’m sure I don’t want to know what is in scrapple, and I know I would go broke paying the rest room attendants for as many times it sent me there!  😄

Dave, Thank you for the links!!

Interesting thing about scrapple, I have never seen it here in Western Pennsylvania.  It must be an Eastern thing.  I suppose you don't see many pierogies in Eastern Pennsylvania, while there are even pierogi races at Pirates games.  Must be like the difference between Sheetz and Wawa.

I grew up near Johnstown PA, on the Pittsburgh side of the Allegrippus () which firmly plants me in Western PA and we definitely had scrapple growing up.   We had pirogis too, and halupki, halushki, and cherigi.  I think the scrapple is a Pennsylvania Dutch invention (definitely more of an Eastern PA thing) but there are lots of German roots in the state so it made it's way west to us anyway.

P.S. Let's go Bucs!

P.P.S. Sheetz rules, Wawa drools...

😄😄 Yes the Bucs need a kick in the keister!  You grew up close to the Sheetz home!!

I agree scrapple is a German thing.  Both my grandmas were second generation German Americans, though I can trace my Boyce Scot-Irish ancestors back to settling here in 1795 before Butler County existed.  Kielbasa and sauerkraut were the thing For us.  I can’t eat either anymore just like scrapple.

I had better quit or Ken Jr will be asking the moderators to delete my messages. 😱

Thanks for your efforts will join in but real is my deal and the camaraderie that comes with it!

Sorry to say, I was expecting blow out deals, free shipping last year as in years past. All I got was a lot of H.O. talk and a dealer selling liquid smoke. Without MTH in the future, I don’t see a V.Y. to be beneficial to 3R O. I can only hope someone picks up and continues the MTH diesel line with DCS allowing R.R. folks to get together once again.

@SIRT seems like we disappointed you on all levels! Sorry about that and sorry for not having any sales for that day.  Unfortunately, last york was in the midst of the beginning of COVID and our business, as most businesses are still trying to conform with guidelines, restaff and rebuild our businesses.  We were shut down for a while so it really knocks the winds out of your sails.  We never experienced anything like that.  In the future, of course, a sale makes sense to be in accordance with our virtual shows.

The main purpose of this was to talk about the new products that the top manufacturers we deal with announced and some of the regulars you are accustomed to seeing at york.  Since then we have done other virtual seminars so this upcoming one will be strictly O Scale and some S just like York.  It was the first event with all manufacturers on at one virtual show so there are a lot of learning experiences as someone trying different things.  Any time you try something new you learn and can only get better.  We told Williams, Atlas, Lionel And MTH to only focus on O Scale and S this time around.

We did have Mega Steam smoke fluid on the segment as we sell a TON of their smoke fluid and I find Jeb to be a great person who has created some great smoke scents for the O Scale Steam engines.

As per MTH, things always seem to find a way to work out and a company like MTH is too big and have too many great assets to just disappear.  Not having Mike in the Hobby is a great loss for everyone not just Virtual York, however, we all can hope Mike will find someone who is hungry and take MTH to the next level.

That being said, we have an insane amount of views on our virtual events.  These virtual events can even garner more views then a physical show.  Virtual York or York youtube videos will continue as we find that a lot of people do find them to be beneficial.  Sometimes someone can't make the show or perhaps their time was limited and couldn't see the manufacturers etc...  We never intend to replace or cancel out physical events, we truly believe virtual events will only help GROW our hobby which is what we all want.

Side Note,
If anyone wants to drive to the Round Of Clock dinner so we can live stream see if the scrapple is still on point I think that would garner a lot of interest! I personally would have picked coombs or the old Alexanders!   @Mark Boyce ?

Ken, I think you guys did pretty good that first run even with some of the technical hiccups. I believe Lou was trying to find an antenna or something so he could join in, don't remember who disappeared because of other issues.

I'm sure this time around things will be much better as far as content and what we'll see. Even though the first one wasn't last minute notice, it had some great parts and as always, you live you learn. Let's just hope that we can hear and see everyone. I know some virtual calls I've seen recently have a frozen picture of the person talking and you only hear every few words.

This time around maybe everyone will be very relaxed and no technical difficulties. There's always great ideas that come out of talking to others, hopefully we'll get to see some great ones.

Ken, As Dave said, all this was new to everyone last spring.  I know you are doing a great job and are learning how to do it and what and who to show to make the largest impact on the model and toy trains community.  I'm looking forward to seeing the next Virtual York!

478 miles round trip from Butler to Round the Clock Diner just to eat scrapple!!!   Hmmm....  I'm going to have to think on that a while!!

First Day Line Up Is Announced!  Stay tuned for day 2 lineup!

Ken, make sure you get Lou, gotta have some great old stories. I had thought about asking you to ask about favorite York memories. Well, I thought of my own which was only 3 October York's and decided that would be too much. It's like asking a baseball fan who has seen all the greats and asking him if they all played each other, who would be the best. I could see countless people saying how they had several memories of a great many York's and time would be up before you knew it.

Just remember to tease Ryan when they will produce the single Malt Scotch car.

VY reminds me of an online Grandstand gathering, and I enjoyed last spring's.  Got me in the mood to buy, and I did. Thank you.

Hopefully, no one else drops a bombshell on us like MTH did. We all have our preferences, and his products were mine. But, time changes everything, and Covid did even more.

It was great to see, and hear Lou. Working in the stand next to him for several years, I always made sure to be in the corner nearest Lou's stool. great guy, even better stories. True York experience, great add to VY.

VY related sales would be great, too. Can't expect free shipping, folks loose a ton paying it, store do too. That's a casualty of not being able to actually go. One of my go to shops just ended their free shipping on large purchases. Sucks, but I'm not crossing them off my list just because of it.

i digress, thanks TW for doing this. It makes this crap a bit easier to deal with.

Looking forward to this, looking forward to seeing ALL your mugs in person again, hopefully in April.

For what it's worth guys, run your trains in the house during VY for extra sensory enjoyment with sound and smoke!

I think you're dreaming or living in an alternate reality if you think MTH is coming back.  If there was a deal to be made, it would have been made.  Once you've announced the unconditional closure of the company, the time for dealing has expired.

If Lionel was smart, they probably have already acquired parts of the good Premier items to fill in their line.

Diesels, PS-1 50’ cars, things like this. They really don't need any more of the declining RK - choo-choo toy market items.

As for Train World, I have been a customer since the doors first opened. You guys have always been the best. Great stock, quick ship, friendly Customer Service. Never had an issue in all these years. With the MTH situation, I am a bit concerned seeing limited stock going forward.

I can only hope going forward someone will pick up and fill the MTH Premier void that is at stake.

From a business / sales standpoint, I wish you guys only the best!

I must have misunderstood the Montage request.  LOL!  Holy cow that was quite a show.  I felt a few small clips was what you were looking for but holy snikeies we got quite a show!  All of the layout videos were cool!  Being a visitor at the AGHR I recognized a lot of the layout.  What a tour!

Tony did quite a job showing us around his train room but next time we should get him a cameraman and just let him do the talking.  He was interesting to listen to and had such passion.  One heck of a layout!

Trainworx tour was great as well.  I wish Mike's connection was better.  And Megasteam was an interesting segment.  Waiting to see if "Burning Electronics" gets a scent and watch how many people think their trains are burning up.  LOL!  Funny thing is there were multiple people suggesting that!

Thanks @KenJrTW
