york meet questions.

It is true that photography is forbidden inside the halls at the TCA Eastern Division's York train meet. If you poke around on this site, you will probably find several threads discussing the rule.

Thousands of people travel from all over the country to attend this show. Folks also come from overseas. One member of this board is coming all the way from Australia. These folks seem to find the meet worthwhile without beling allowed to take pictures.

Some folks say the rule was developed to protect tableholder's security and privacy. Other folks say the rule was developed to prevent photographers from creating traffic problems in the halls.

Does it matter?

I think the prices are $35 to join and $20 to get in the door.

The York meet does not have a large number of layouts.
It would be better for someone else to go into details because it is not an area of interest for me.

One of the smaller halls should have a layout brought in by a guest club.
The dealer halls will have a few display layouts.

Sometimes the white hall has a guest layout as well.

I love taking photos of layouts, as well, but regardless of what you may have heard, there are very few layouts at the York Meet.  There are several dealer displays (Lionel, MTH, Bachmann, Atlas O, and perhaps one or two more that are essentially "test tracks" to show off the products), but that's about it.

To the best of my knowledge, no group is displaying a modular layout in the Black Hall.  If they are, they sure have kept it a closely guarded secret (probably not the best idea).

I believe on your first visit that once you walk in the door you will be so overwhelmed taking pictures with your camera will be forgotten.  If not, well then, the Men in Black have this "flashy thing" that will take care of your recollections.
