Thank you for the head's up.......I hope to join everyone.......since I am running trains with the Trackers in the Purple Hall, I will make sure I'm free at that time.

Am I correct in assuming that "Trackers" is National Capital Trackers?  If so, that's great news - their layout is right up there with SGMA as my favorites, and I didn't know that they were planning to set up.  (Didn't get the notice in the mail, perhaps because I got my badge in April.)  I remember their setup from a few years ago - the layout was so long that it included an over/under - never seen a modular layout do that before.

Looks like I will have to change my plans for Saturday now. My first York just keeps getting better.

Same here, and congrats on going to your first York.  I usually hit the road on Friday afternoon, but giving serious thought to sticking around.  My sweetheart's normal question on Saturday is "why did we stick around?", to which I rarely have a good answer.  She enjoys York, but with a full trunk by then and empty halls, she usually has a point.

Yes......Tom (Gilly@N&W) and I have built two transition modules which make my 18' of linear space on the RC3R layout compatible with the NCT modules......overall, it is going to be an incredible display!

(I'm not too excited, am I?....)

I can't wait for this event!  Youtube is great for providing one-way communication, these guys create content that us viewers (subscribers, I hope!) consume, but there's little opportunity for us to provide feedback other than the thumbs up "like" or leaving a comment.  The nice thing about this mixer is going to be the ability to actually rub elbows with these great guys.

Without a doubt, this will be a highlight of this fall's York event.  Thanks gents!

Do you have an agenda?

Social Media Mixer implies to me it's just a social event not really an organized meeting.  I'm probably wrong but I think the agenda is to meet with the group and just talk trains and have some fun.

That being said wouldn't next time be a good introduction into creating a successful channel.  That would require an agenda.

I agree with Stu.  It's a chance to just talk and meet other trains nuts!  No demos, or trainings, or anything, just a good old fashion social gathering.

Great question @Mallard4468. This event is really an opportunity to get together and meet each other in one place. We are also hosting on Saturday morning with the goal that the event could draw families or folks who were not able to get off work on Thursday or Friday, to the event, and ultimately, to the TCA.

MartyE and Sean are spot on.

Hope to see you there!

Not looking to turn it into a "program", but I'd like to suggest that each of the YouTube luminaries do a one- or two-minute introduction and explanation of what you are doing.

While I'm not afraid to go up to people and talk with them (although I'll admit that I froze when I thought I saw Neil Young a few years ago), members of the train community have a reputation for being socially awkward - a brief intro might raise the comfort level for some folks.

Just make sure that there are no Norfolk Southern engines around to distract Jason. Get him to buy more steam engines.

Hopefully you all have a blast. Stinks that I can't make it. It would have been on my list to pop over and chat with everyone. Not shortage of words come out of my mouth, have to get me to stop talking.

Would love to participate, but my buds and I will be headed home by that time on Saturday morning. Great idea for a social gathering, though!

Guys, what Allan is saying here is, "Guys, be sure to post a lot of photos here, tell us how much fun it was, etc., etc."

So make sure you guys know which person(s) are assigned to take pictures(everyone attending). In short, you guys best have a blast, and see if the next time you can get Allan to come and join. He is a hoot to talk to.
