I'm glad, of course, that all replies above indicate a good experience, but please don't say "so-and-so has the best prices on the web."  I always check out these claims and rarely find them completely true.  Examples in this case tonight, using MTH products:

Item          Mario          Other Well-known Vendor

BB1 Electrics          678                    599

SF 2900 Class 4-8-4          1076          1059

In fact, I bought the SF engine when that vendor offered another $100 discount!

I know that it is always buyer beware in this hobby, but misleading statements often translate to folklore causing others to spend more than they might have if these statements weren't made.

Uhhh..... you might want to at least note that the OP started this thread well over a year ago, and the thread has since been resurrected earlier today.  So rather than "dispute" the thread's premise, I tend to give the OP the benefit of the doubt -- namely, any such claim is simply a moment-in-time statement based on the OP's experiences.  And just leave it at that.

I'm sure we've all had similar experiences with suppliers that makes us feel good about doing more business with them in the future.  But given the dynamic nature of our little corner of the world these days, it's probably safe to say nobody ALWAYS has the lowest prices on EVERYTHING.  Pick several random high-end products, and you'll probably find Vendor A is lower than Vendor B at some point in time.  Check a different product, and Vendor B could have a better price than Vendor A.  Then check again on those SAME products 3-6 months later, and the situation could be completely reversed -- especially if one of the vendor's is offering a special sale.

Bottom line... Mario's is definitely a supplier that should be part of anyone's "short list" of vendors when hunting for that special item.  Great prices AND great service.

Marios is a great place to deal with. Anytime I am in the area I stop by(I live in Louisiana work takes me to winchester). And to make a note about prices. Yea when a big hobby shop is having a large sale yea their price may beat marios but I will bet 75% of the time marios everyday price and shipping combined will beat the others price and shipping(Mario and joe do free shipping 90% of the time.) Also there is usually a coupon on their site somewhere.

While what you post may be accurate - find an item cheaper - call Joe and bet you Mario's will mach it or come in a nickle or more under it.  Just my experience with Joe.  Not saying other vendors are not good, but Mario's has been great vendor to deal with on an ongoing basis.

Surfliner, I think you might have misinterpreted the intent of my post.  I was simply trying to mitigate PRR1950's somewhat dismissive post that implied Mario's DOESN'T necessarily have the lowest prices on the web.  The reality is several  OGR forum sponsors will, in fact, give loyal shoppers a "good deal" if you ask them nicely to help you spend money at their store.    And Mario's is certainly one of them.  So establishing an ongoing relationship with a few key dealers is important and can make all the difference.

I've ordered from Mario's several times and have been quite happy with their prices and customer service.  So I would more than encourage folks here on the forum to shop at Mario's.  They've got some good deals going on right now.
