Juan Browne from the 'blancolirio' YouTube Channel (one of the best aviation YouTubers) did a couple livestreams aboard the narrow gauge NCNGRR  0-4-0T Porter today.  I thought it was really informative and interesting.  Since this was shot live some parts of the video get pixelated and wonky, but the info is good.  Enjoy!

These  Little Porter tank engines were the cutting edge of light motive power  from the late 1860"sto 1950 .  There Light weight  from 6 to 20 tons? allowed them  to be transported , by horse and wagon, boat, barge and ship.  They were built in every gauge imaginable and used all over the world.    They were used to build railroads , bridges , dams highways  city streets. In lumber yards quarries saw mills factories, brewery's and steel mills. While every one  damp over the big name engines , it was these little Porters that made that all possible
