ZW-C Legacy Question

Some of these act weird with Legacy.  The only acknowledged issue is they would randomly go into emergency shutdown (As if you pushed the red stop button on the Legacy remote.) and Lionel has a replacement chip for the ZW-C that requires opening it up.  Mine will sometimes not power up unless I power cycle the main brick a couple times.  Also if I use the remote to power up the track I have to do a lot of wheel spinning before it does anything.  But once powered and up it then preforms flawlessly for the rest of the operating session. 

So you either decide to live with it, or see if the new chip will fix it if you are comfortable opening it up.

I don't think the chips are available anymore, so you may have to live with it.  It's possible that you could find someone that has had the controller board croak with a new chip.

Thanks guys. I have no problem dealing with it. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing something wrong. Your right Sinclair. They do act goofy sometimes. But, like you said once it’s set it works flawlessly. That’s exactly what’s happening.

Didn't Lionel start making the chips available if you call them they would get one. Thought I remember something like that. Oh no come to think of it. Now I think it's you get a credit towards  a new ZWL.

If they did make more, I don't know about it.
