When I was building a layout not too many years back, I bought every 721 switch I could find that had a plastic frog. The older 721-711's with the track section for frog are NOT for you. They are de-railer experts and that is why Lionel switched to the Phenolic frogs. They also tore off the uncoupling and automatic car shoe contacts, sooner or later.

Buy them all! Then buy 031 switches cheap and convert the manual's to automatic. It takes just two wires to make the non-derailing feature automatic and as good as 711's.

Never the less, they are getting hard to find.

BTW, the prewar are much better and more reliable than the recent manufactured versions, but they can be tweek-ed to work well also.
