Did anyone ever see this TMI boxcar or other TMI cars? This is the Lionel 9700 series sold by Newbraugh Brothers.

Yep! I have one on the shelf in my trainroom. I was nearly 9 when the accident happened, and I remember being more than a little concerned when I heard my parents talking about possibly leaving home (about 45 miles from TMI).
I think there is also a tank car in o gauge and a standard gauge boxcar with same decoration.
I saw several cars in that series after the accident at TMI. I haven't seen any for some time now. Maybe one will turn up at First Frost Train Meet on the Allentown Fairgrounds next weekend.
However it’s not an original Lionel product but a Lionel 9700-series box car redecorated by John Newbraugh of Newbraugh Brothers Toys and Seymour Knight of the Pleasant Valley Process Company. On my car I can see the outline of the Conrail “Can Opener” logo to the right of the door.
I believe that Charlie Phillips of Harrisburg was also involved in the production of these cars. And yes there was an O gauge tank car, as I recall it was a short single-dome car like the postwar 6025-series tank cars. I don’t remember a standard gauge car, though.
And I was in the Nuclear Industry at the time of the accident.
