Hey Guys,

I have a question regarding my Legacy Remote that I was hoping you could help me with? My CTC button does not work all of a sudden... at least as it should. I can't get the remote to power up by pushing that button. If I pull a battery out, and put it back in however, the remote powers up and I can control my trains as normal. When I go to turn the remote off, I push the CTC button and the remote turns off, but the backlight stays on. Any ideas? Maybe a reset and firmware reinstall? Thanks! Tom

You could try that but I suspect it will need to go back to Lionel for repair.  I've seen reports of similar problems and the trip to Lionel was usually the solution.  Good news is that they still repair these as a warranty repair.

Godale03,

This is exactly what happened to mine, you will need an RA number form Lionel, it will need to be repaired by their technicians, the good thing is the turn around time is short and once fixed and the new upgrade instituted, your 990 will be in great shape.  Remember if you are a Military Vet Lionel picks up the shipping cost!

Lionel has been great about fixing these 990 Legacy units under Warranty, you will need to provide a copy of your original sales receipt.

Thanks guys! I placed a call to Lionel, and they issued an RMA#. I have it all packed up and ready to go out tomorrow. According to the paper that they sent me they are telling me that it will take 3 weeks or more to repair. That's seems like a long time, I have a couple new legacy engines to try out.  They are fixing I assume for free as they didn't advise on cost, so I can't really complain. Thanks for the advice guys!
