Still trying to find out from the forum if from anyone with subject if the volume is much lower than other engines. The volume is turned all the way up both on the tender itself & thru the remote, but with all the cars running behind it you cannot hear the engine very well at all. The Legacy C & A with exactly the same tender, is much louder. Comments please.

Thanks

Using Atlas track & just running 7 matching cars. Will try Alex's suggestion again, but had board upgraded at Lionel for the chuff upgrade as it was cutting out at the crossover & not coming back on even though I have the battery in it. Very frustrating as they sent me a new board & still not any louder. Speakers & potentiometer was also checked & checked out fine. If anyone in the Pittsburgh area has one, please let me know.

John, glad the volume issue is solved. As for the tender cutting out when going through a switch

I'm sure some of the Atlas track owners can help out a bit. I've read some threads in the past saying that some people had the same issue even with a battery installed. I think you will have to do some soldering on the Atlas switches. They will have to tell you how to go about this

Thanks

Alex

I glad you got your sound issue sorted out.  Here's short video of mine with both the original terrible whistle and the upgraded whistle Lionel offered us when it came out.

I don't run mine with a battery and it doesn't cut out going over any Fastrack turnouts including the O72 ones.  At this point, if sound is dropping out, you must be your Atlas turnouts like the curved O54 or some of the number turnouts.

There was some discussions on mods you an do to the turnouts to improve this if you search for them or ask others with the problem.

Another option is to put a 9 volt battery in the tender or a BCR with a charging kit in the tender and that would solve the problem as well.  Personally, I would go with the BCR option and never worry about opening the tender in my lifetime.
