Hello Ogr forum members. I got a question and i hope someone has an answer. I have the legacy control system installed on my layout. When I try to run my engines they will not move. The lights work, the sound system works, i can even make the engine move in the speed mode but when I try to use the velocity knob nothing happens. I should mention that everything was working great and I was uncoupling my new Big boy from its train when this occurred. I stopped the engine, uncoupled the car by hand and tried to move the engine forward and it would not move. I tried another engine with the same results. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had a similar problem with a Legacy engine the other day, so, as the Judge in the classic Miracle on 34th Street said, I consulted the highest available authority - the OGR Legacy Forum!!!

I found this thread and it has raised an odd question. Like Ty's issue, I could address the engine (a CN SD70M-2, 6-28313), the lights, sounds, and couplers all worked, but no movement, forward or reverse. If I rotated the speed knob, the engine revved higher as it would if there was movement. I initially disregarded Chessie1971's solution because, when I first had the issue, I swapped the errant engine with another Legacy diesel which was running fine on a separate, isolated track. When swapped, the replaced engine worked fine on the track where the CN wouldn't move, so I assumed it wasn't the track (and we all know what they say about assuming). I then placed the CN on the track I had been running the second engine on, and it exhibited the same lack of movement. In light of this test, I again assumed that the break was not an issue. On a lark, I went down and looked at the Cab-2, and, low and behold, the break was on full - thanks Chessie1971!!!

And that leads to the question, since the Cab-2 still had the break on full, why wasn't the second engine effected??? Is the break function limited only to the active engine when it is applied???

Thanks.
