Hello all,

I'm looking for the locomotive wiring harness for a Premier 4-8-4 Reading T-1, 20-3130-1. If not the harness, maybe at least the part number. Queried MTH, but they no longer stock the part. There is evidence of previous soldering work, so I would like to replace the harness with a fresh one. Loco exhibits intermittent stopping problems. Sometimes it will stop and cannot be restarted unless track power is turned off and on. The click is heard, and then it can be restarted. The tether has been replaced, with no improvement.

Thanks for any help,

Jim

Before you go further, why did it have past solder work?  Was this your friends engine from day one or a fleabay queen?  Myself, I would remove the locomotive body and tender body and do the following.   Plug the tender plug into the engine and do a continuity check on each wire from the board to it's final destination.  Chances are you you will end up loosing continuity somewhere on the ten pin by a cold solder joint.  This is not uncommon.  Secondly, I would closely examine the solder work done before and repair if needed.

Never be to quick to throw parts at an engine until you have identified the situation that is causing your problem.  Anytime you are in doubt of your soldering skills, have someone look at it that can be of help.
