I thought he would only do it, aside from his custom jobs like the Lionel Lines Alcos, if it were a postwar piece.  If that's changed then that is good news.  Thanks for the info.

I haven't heard of problems with Modern Era GG-1 body castings. I guess the first issue was kind of rough, but this is the first for warping.

Has anybody else heard about casting problems for the body?

Compared to the MPC reissue of the GG1, the LTI version was cast from either all new or reworked tooling.  If anything, the LTI version is a far superior casting.  This of course didn't improve Lionel's paint which by today's standards is total crap.  I'd suspect a warped casting here has everything to do with a sudden exposure to concrete.

Hello brwebster.............

there was no signs of the GG1 being dropped but rather poor Q.A. of the die-casting, I suspected it taken out of the die-casting machine too soon thus quickly cooled down on one side than the other causing the slightly warp.  I checked E-bay for other and found few that have the same problem. That is too bad because I need a engine to pull the cars and I have the F-3's so needed to find someone who has unpainted F-3 shells and then have it painted in Amtrak colors. I think I can paint them myself if I can get decals for it. Does anyone have unpainted shells and decals for sale ?

Any possibility, the warp you are seeing is just the picture?

No, the one I have is in my hands as I use my hand and feel across the body line where the blue stripes are.  That's how I found out where the warp is (between the window bars and the ladders).   I am going to send back the GG1 to the seller and just buy the cars.  At first I thought it was my eyes playing tricks but wasn't.  This one is worse than the others on E-bay and some showed very good pictures and was able to spot them. I had GG1's in the past and this is first time for warps.  I had # 8850, 8150 and 18300 but this one 18303 is worse.
