As GRJ says, it depends on what you're doing.  Look at the specification called "Max DC current" or something to that effect.  Assuming you're talking about LED lighting in passenger cars, the current needed will surely be much less than 0.1 Amps.  Whereas in engines or on track blocks the current will can be in the Amps.

Your part is 1.28 Amps.  Here's a Mouser part that is only 16 cents each at Qty 10 (vs. 75 cents) rated at 0.28 Amps so that has plenty of margin for LED lighting.

You can get them on eBay for less than 5 cents each if you don't mind waiting a few weeks.

BTW, if you're wondering why you can use the "DC current" spec when our O-gauge devices run on AC, it's because for this application (high-frequency DCS signal integrity) DC and 60 Hz are essentially equivalent.

Since I got the LED rolls coming.  im going to need the bridge rectifier, the capacitors, the 22uh chokes. resistors.

anybody compile the list of components required of the correct value of the bridge rectifiers, capacitors, etc.  im looking at what part #'s from mouser do I need or from Digikey.   I thnnk most of us doing the project could use some help to make sure we don't order the wrong thing. thanks for your help!
