Actually, the PTC is a fairly slow acting device, if you want fast acting circuit protection for 60 cents, use a fast blow fuse.

Here's a PTC with a 4A hold current and an 8 amp trip current: RKEF400

. Do you really want to wait 24 seconds at 20 amps before it trips?
