In the near future, I am planning on building Bryn Mawr tower from scratch and may want to borrow some of your ideas/techniques.

Thanks for the compliments! Your Bryn Mawr tower sounds like a great project.

My tower is being modeled off one down the road from me - Virginia Avenue Tower. It's my first scratch built structure but has been coming along well.

I used AK Interactive carving foam for the brickwork - scribing this was tedious but it was a nice effect. It's not perfect brickwork but looks good to me!  For the recessed section of brick I was able to press the side of the foam in to create the indentation. Here's a post about another similar project with the same brand of foam.

The other supplies used were plastistruct, grandt line windows, microscope slides for window glass, and a few other misc detail parts. I have some PRR style signs on their way from Scale City Design that will provide some finishing touches.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I have some smaller pieces of leftover foam I can mail you, if you'd like to test out this building material.
