I’ve not set them off from running half a dozen or more from the layout on 42” high. However, one of the tracks suspended from the ceiling passes almost directly under a smoke detector. Set on medium, or high, my double headed mikado, 2-8-8-2 mallet will set it off. They don’t on low.
