I have several Atlas O Front Runner cars that I purchased awhile ago from the Bay. These are all 2-rail models with scale wheels. I would like to install hi-rail wheel sets but I can't find the hi-rail needle point axles. These cars have a single axle at each end. I looked on the Atlas web site but I couldn't find them. Would anyone have an idea where I might find them? Would the wider flanges cause a problem with the existing trucks?

Contact Northwest Short Line, and explain what you have and what you want to accomplish. They will even make you custom wheel sets to properly fit your application.
Your problem lies in the size of the wheelsets. the 3 rail wheels are also scale 29" diameter wheels like the 1:1. If you attempt to use standard 33" wheelsets, your couplers will be misaligned [due to wheel height], the wheels will scrape the brake shoes and possibly other details. I know this from speaking to Billy at Atlas O . At one time I was desperately looking for some of the BN City series TTUX cars [ I finally got them all several years ago]
Bottom line if you have a two rail, keep it two rail or sell it and get a purposely built 3 rail built model for this car. I know that Walkers HArdware in totowa, nj has this car in 3 rail.

Maybe the easiest thing to do is to just sell your 2R models and buy some 3R cars?
