I would like to announce the Thursday, October 17th biannual pre-York breakfast.

Place: the Round-the-Clock Diner 222 Arsenal Rd or the north side of Route, just east of I-83.

All are invited......people start arriving at 0730-0800 and we usually stay till about 10-1030.

Come and dine with your fellow York attendees and catch the pre-meet excitement. I really do mean all are welcome.  Spouses are most certainly welcome. Traveling alone? In a small group? 1st York? Come and join us.  Put a face with a name. Catch up with what's gone on since April. Talk trains. Get new ideas. Make new acquaintances.....that's what this hobby is all about.

I reserve tables. It is pretty informal. Just give me an idea if you coming....there is no time limit on when to respond. It's just a great way to spend the morning before the Meet starts!

This is also a special breakfast......probably the last one on a Thursday......With the return of the 2 day Meet in April, I will be moving this to Fridays....and we won't have time to linger like we do now.....

I'll be there smiling wide as I can. Debating on coffee or tea with breakfast. I know that it's early, but I think I had coffee last year and tea the year before. I guess it'll depend on how tired I am from running around the day before.

Dave.....here's the website:

Yeah, I already know what I'll eat, just not sure about drinking. I'll have pancakes, eggs(poached) and something else probably. Having a bagel may be too much to eat. I'll figure it out when were there. Just have to see how tired I feel when I get there. Always good to post the menu regardless. Hopefully there's enough maple syrup to go around so I can tease Alan when we see him later if he's unable to attend.😃

i hope to be there before all the early birds finish breakfast! So what will the plan be as York goes back to an early Friday start? Friday breakfast at 6 am?

I have already been thinking it through......probably 0700-0830......got to leave time for travel to the Fairgrounds.....Remember, Fridays will be more crowded than what we have come to expect on the current 3 day meet.

I'm going to try and be there for "Last Thursday".

Perhaps we could pose for the "Last Breakfast".

Count me in!

I wonder who we could get to take a picture for that? May be hard with the space, guess we'll see what comes.

What a great idea.....I’m sure we could get someone at the Diner to take it....history demands that we keep a record for posterity.....

With apologies to Abe.......the world will little note nor long remember what we said there.....but, it can never forget what we did there.....

Guys.....I am very pumped, too.......if fact I just spent the equivalent of 2 plus Vision Line engines on a new furnace....yet, when I look at it, I’m all smiles.

That goes right to:  New car tires, repair car air-conditioner, new water heater & all that other kind of stuff.  How do you get excited when you show these new items to friends.

I would like to think the cold would feel different with new AC.  Unfortunately, no!  Bummer.

Oh my gosh....I just learned today I need one as well and it's being installed on Wednesday  (heck of a birthday present to myself).   The York fund definitely took a hit.

Hi Peter,

Marla and I will be there for the historical event.  By the way, I'm certain it's "semiannual" unless you plan to start holding these every other year.  I wield the "Grammar Hammer" ( a special gift from one of my team leaders who is also quite an artist).  He will make me give it back, if I don't say something.

Just for S&G, I took a look at the breakfast menu. Pumpkin Pecan Pancakes? Interesting I guess that would be interesting.

Nothing beats the strawberry foo-foo pancakes at the Allentown breakfast.

I'll have to see if I can make Allentown. Every year I always seem to have something conflicting and keeping me away.

Unfortunately I cannot attend your breakfast but I did have a peek at the layout and give it the thumbs up. Very nice the scenery is well done the track plan is very versatile, congratulations to all involved. Have a great morning at the breakfast. Roo.

The reservation is confirmed for Thursday 0730 at the Round-the-Clock Diner......there is no deadline on when you can sign up.....last minutes decisions are always accommodated.....

I can almost taste those Pumpkin Pecan pancakes right now......YUM!!!!!

Peter

May we consider the consumption of Pumpkin Pecan pancakes to be on "Doctor's Orders"?  My wife said that's the only way she'll approve of my eating them.

Sure will taste a lot better than fruit and a plain bran muffin!

Just remember to go in the driveway and not I-83. That was FUN the first time I was there in 2017. Nothing like going the wrong way for breakfast.

That was probably confusing to most everyone their first time - I know it was for me as that's a unique and immediate left-hand turn for the entrance!

-Greg

It also doesn't help that my coworkers OnStar said we were there before we even reached the place. That and me seeing what I though was a driveway off Arsenal which is on the off ramp.

So first time attendees, turn at the light and then hook the left into the diner otherwise it is straight past or I-83, lol. Either way you will have to turn around and have slow traffic.

I plan on getting up and in early. This way I get a great seat and don't have to worry about like my first year being at the kids table(way in the back, back where the waitresses serve coffee).

One year I got stuck in traffic and arrived about 45 minutes late and was in that spot as well!  It gave me an opportunity to meet new folks!

Which of the waitresses did you like best Greg?

Wow! friends from all over the country, possibly other Countries, this will be the best way to begin our day, with great friends, at “Around the Clock Diner”, for the October 2019 TCA Eastern Division Train Bonanza! It’ll be fun for all, and all for fun. We will be their, Lord willing, your friends from Tennessee and Kentucky, Leapin Larry and Charles Lentz and of course Farmerjohn ( Johnny Dawson and Debbie ).... It’s great to be retired and having time for some good old train fun, meeting friends, and catching up on the latest news about our great hobby, Model Railroading. We wish safe traveling for everyone. See you soon.....Happy Railroading

For some crazy reason I am mad hungry today even though I had eaten my usual eats at break this morning. It is as if almost there was some driving force saying, "BREAKFAST! TRAINS! BREAKFAST TRAINS!" Maybe my stomach is already at Round The Clock looking at the menu. Hopefully that will stop.

About that waitress, I don't seem to remember that one, but maybe my mind is elsewhere, lol.

I just went through the flights, it will take me 28 hours and 3 stops to get there from Perth to York for just under $2000 bucks flying Virgin/Delta airlines !

I will pass on this year maybe some other time.   Roo.

I was just about ready to offer to buy you a beer at Quaker Steak and Lube. It would be great if you could make it sometime.

Make it a 2-week (or longer) trip.  In addition to the meet, visit Strasburg (TCA museum, Choo Choo Barn, PA museum, Strasburg RR), Amish country, Horseshoe Curve, Gettysburg, many other historic sites, Steamtown, autumn colors.

I'll bet that if you posted your intentions here, you'd get invitations to a dozen layouts.

Would make a nice spring vacation for you.

That's great Pete. I believe we won't have Alan Arnold with us this time as I think he had said he wouldn't be able to(so I can't tease him about using up all the syrup). We will be graced by Allan Miller so we have to make sure he gets some syrup if he is having anything he would need to put that on. I'll try not to soak my pancakes if I am having any this time around. See what my stomach is in the mood for.

Mallard 4468 that does indeed sound like a great trip. Now if I can convince the wife to go back to Perth from the UK the opposite way next year we could do it.  You guys make me laugh which is a good thing don't take life to serious enjoy yourself. Roo.

We try not to Roo. I always said going out to York is great because I always get a few good laughs just from normal everyday stuff. Mike Reagan is always good for a few when he is talking to people at the OGR meetings(Fridays) or when you talk to him one on one.

You sound like a good bunch of people it's great that some people can still enjoy themselves, so you eat and drink a few more calories than you should the laughing and talking will make up for it. I wish you well. Roo.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.......safe travels to all.

BTW........it is now officially “wear your train tie to work week”.

Peter

That's a cool idea.    For me, it will be train T-shirts for work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.   I head to York 2am on Thursday morning.   I won't arrive in time for breakfast.   Maybe next year with the two day meet schedule.

Another great time.......we had over 50 people!!!!!
Just a thought.......breakfast is moved to Fridays from now on.....likely 0645-0830.

Thank you for all who participated......it really makes the event a success! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate everyone's camaraderie. The OGR Forum thrust all of us "lone wolf" hobbyists into a social hobby.....and I believe we are all better for it.

It means a lot to me to actually meet and converse with those I communicate online with.

I can truly say that I have friends from all over the country that I see twice a year!
