Re: Do I need two Cab 1 command bases?

I have two (independent) loops of track. Each loop has it's own TPC.

I'm operating one loop of track from the left side of my MTH Z4000 and the other loop from the right side.

I have a Cab1 command base connected to one TPC. The remote/hand-held works as it should (in conventional mode) when I operate this TPC.

Can I use jumper wires from the terminals where the command base connects on this TPC...over to...the corresponding terminals on the second TPC...or do I need another command base for my second TPC?

Right now the second TPC will not operate with the Cab1. I'm assuming that is because it does not have a command base connected to it.

This is probably a very elementary issue, but I'm rather new to some of these operating systems.

You do not need or want two command bases in one layout. You use a single command base and common ALL the outside tracks to carry the signal to the entire layout.

For the TPC, you need to run the serial signal from the command base to all the TPC's.

Serial signal?? Are you refering to the to the wires originating from the command base pin jack? If so, those are the wires I want to "jump" from TPC one to TPC two.

Correct, the two TPC's will be daisy-chained.

From the TPC manual.

COMM connections for additional units
Attach a red wire to the DAT terminal of the TPC unit and connect it to the DAT terminal of the next TMCC product. Attach a green wire to the COM terminal of your TPC unit and connect it to the COM terminal of the next product. Add additional products in the same manner, connecting the DAT terminals and the COM terminals.
