Love it, Steve!! You always do a fantastic job of weathering!!  I have always liked that GM&O livery.  The first picture I saw of it was in black and white and the lower black paint was quite dirty so I did not think it was black but imagined it was maroon for sometime.  I was a little disappointed when I saw it in color picture.

Thanks Larry.

I had a hard time liking this one because I kept wanting to paint it blue grey as the real photo shows. Also no white stripe on it either. But for 47 bucks, you get the version MTH has presented me with. It would not be cost effective to do otherwise.

The customer sent me a different photo to use.

Maybe there were other schemes on these diesels, not sure if MTH was correct? I still have to question the black color used on the MTH.

Anyone know anything about that New Haven RDC Brian posted?

Basically a custom built RDC train by Budd for the New Haven Roger Williams during their dalliance with high speed lightweight trains.  The train consisted of 6 RDC's: the two cab cars and four intermediate RDC's without controls or operator's cabs.

The train was equipped with third rail shoes for operation into Grand Central Terminal.  The cars were compatible with standard RDC's and were mixed in with standard RDC's after the trainset was split up.  Retired in 1980.  Two cabs and one intermediate cars survive.

My new (to me) MTH NKP 759 Berkshire in the American Railroads (Golden Spike 100th Anniversary) paint scheme with matching passenger cars. This engine was originally a 5-volt PS2 which was upgraded to PS3 and the only changes that I have made were to change out the headlight from a bright white LED and the MARS light from a red LED to now both be golden glow white LED's.

Thanks,

Mat

Good morning this is the boiler front from Pennsy K4 1361 at the Altoona Railroaders Musuem this past fall.

The headlight is sitting on a pellet along with a the steam generator.                                                                                                The primer colored item is the light off the rear of the tender.

Merry Christmas !

Good evening, this is a PRR Jordan Spreader being prepped to head out before a winter storm moves in.

Long before the Weather Channel and Doppler radar the PRR management are hoping they are making the right move and getting in position if the forecaster is correct.

The forecast is calling for possibly several inches of snow with possible snow rates of 2" per hour. The following day are calling for wind from the east which will make conditions out on the railroad miserable.

Todays power for the spreader will be a freshly shopped L1 Mikado along with a repainted Pennsy N6B Cabin Car painted in the new MOW colors.

Happy Frontend Friday  : )

A paved street, with a parking lane, no less, and somebody's frontporch right there, and a train trundling straight up the center! Its nice to be reminded, again, that, more-or-less, such scenes are not just the stuff of model train layouts,IMG_9475 that they do happen in real-life, too!

Thanks for that reference point!
