I posted a question a few days back looking for a "Little Honest Advice" and received mounds of thoughts to chew on....I appreciate everyone's responses....got a lot out of them ALL...and learned quite a bit. THANK YOU ALL!

Now...another question...My thinking IS that a Legacy Command system will do everything (and more) that a CAB-1L Command system. Hence,  a loco equipped with TMCC would run and jump just as well with a Legacy system as it does with CAB-1L, AND, that a CAB-1L would run a Legacy loco BUT all the add-ons that a Legacy loco has, would do would NOT be accessable via it...conventinal equipment could be worked successfully with either with use of a TPC.

So, if I have a loco equipped with TMCC controls, would not a Legacy system work just as well as a

CAB-1L controller????....however a Legacy loco will do most commands with a CAB-1L but not as many

as using a Legacy controller.....am I right or........??

I watched a Lionel Video, whereas the presenter shows a CAB-1L base being connected thru a Legacy base. Other than one having BOTH systems and maybe wanting to use two remotes, what would be the advange or running both bases????

Thanks again!....Earnie

Your thinking is correct. Legacy 990 system will do all TMCC operation just as well as the Cab1L, plus it will also do all Legacy operations as well.

The Legacy 990 costs a bit more, but if you ever plan to add any Legacy equipment, I would get the Legacy 990. If all you are planning to ever have is TMCC only, then the Cab1L/Base1L would be fine.

Dale is Right!!  It's called "PACKET" Type of Data Transmission!!!   Packets or Bursts....Same thing!!!

Are you sure it was a Cab1-L base and not a old TMCC base?  Because the Cab1-L handhelds talk to the Legacy base, I think having both Cab1-L and Legacy bases tied together would be bad for a similar reason Dale said, mixed signals.  But being I have neither I don't know for certain.  I'm still waiting for my Legacy set to come, but I can't make full use of it until my VL BB gets here.  I currently only have TMCC locomotives and old command sets.
