I wonder if Lionel will be doing any more legacy subways like they did with the R16, R27, and R30. They were awesome sets that they need to do again just maybe this time with something more modern, I'd love to see them try a R38 or R44/R46. It's such a shame Lionel overlooked the 115th Anniversary of the subway, that would have been a great PR promotional idea especially since they have the MTA license.

Last I heard they were working on reengineering the subways. I hope they'll be rerun soon. I ran my R27 set today, I love it. I hope we get sound/motor at each end, sparking shoes and people/ads in the interiors.

It would be nice to see Lionel update their L3 Mohawk tooling, like they did with the Reading T1s.

A J1e Hudson would also be a classic, and is a significant piece of Lionel history that would make sense to honor in a big anniversary year celebration like Lionel is having this year. 2019v2 saw the 4-6-6T that were former K-Line tooling, maybe they will do the same and rerun the K-Line scale J1e. If not, the 700e would work just fine for me.

 

One last thought. Pacific brass hybrid. While the Hudsons are certainly more well known, especially in O gauge, I've always liked the look of the NYC Pacifics with the really big headlights. It would represent an earlier stage on NYC history.

No idea as to what will be in this catalog, but as I mentioned above it would be nice to see some more AFT cars as promised many years ago.

And something to go with those AFT cars they are making:  A SD40-2 in Burlington Northern Bicentennial scheme with cab #1876.  BN SD40-2 #1876 and BN U30c #1776 (Lionel made this engine already)  were the only diesels to pull the AFT without one of the steamers.  For Lionel to make BN #1876 to go with their BN #1776 to pull their AFT cars would be awesome.

It will be interesting to see what comes out in the "July" catalog if they are indeed on schedule to what Ryan was saying in the TrainWorld video. As to what exactly that will be a hard thing to pin down. Ryan has said before in other hints given almost the same thing, "Some Pennsy fans", "Some NYC fans" in what he has said. This is really a broad stroke and could mean anything from engines to rolling stock or even a billboard sign.

So, we can speculated what we think may be coming, or even hope is coming. Either way we won't know until it is here, and we may even get lucky.

There are some great things out there that we still have not seen in OScale that really should be made. I know that I only know of a few things that others know those that get snubbed everytime any of the manufacturers release new offerings(some may actually have already released one like the K5 Pacific's that was discussed on a prior topic year or so ago).

Regardless of all that, hopefully we get something that we are asking for. I think subway sets would be a good thing too, not that I have an interest, more for seeing some diversity in what some other manufacturers may have cornered the market on already.

See what comes, here's hoping.

Something that Lionel would bring back is the Santa Fe 2-10-10-2. I missed out on the 2009-2010 version and it would be nice to get one that is updated with Bluetooth. Sorry Pennsy and NYC fans, I live in Texas so Santa Fe all the way!

It would be really cool if Lionel did to their 2-10-10-2 what the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe did to their's; cut it in half and make Class 3020 or 3290 Santa Fe's 2-10-2's out of it. Such a locomotive would have a locomotive wheelbase of only 35' 10' (or just shy of 9 inches in O scale) and be overall shorter than a postwar 726/736 Berkshire. They already have the tender to boot.

Yes, that would be something cool to see. I guess you can say it is part 2 to the 2-10-10-2 saga. Something else that would be interesting to see would be a rendition of Santa Fe's 2-6-6-2. Another interesting locomotive that is, surprisingly, one of their successful strange locomotives. Oh well, we can only dream.

You know, that would really be a great idea @Trainmaster04. There are probably a lot of Santa Fe engines that just don't get there due. I know the most recent run they had the steam hit, but that is only one of many steamers that they had. Diesel I'm sure would definitely be a ton more. Hopefully they get something Santa Fe coming including the 2-10-10-2 you missed.
