I have an MTH 30-2620-1 diesel, and the center cog that connects the two cogs on a powered truck simply came off.  After hunting around the layout a bit, I found the little axle/stud that it normally spins around.  I have not removed a diesel truck before, and am only guessing the motor powers one of the drive wheel axles and this cog simply transfers power to the other drive wheels on the truck.  MTH does not list a parts diagram or other guide for this locomotive that I can find. Does anyone have any idea how to repair this?  I can't see any sort of connecting threads, slot, etc. on the stud, but I do not think it will stay in if I simply push it back into the hole.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

If you are talking about the idler gear, they are secured with a flat headed stud pressed into the truck.  If the side frame can be removed from the bottom, clean the truck block and stud,  add very small amount of super glue in the hole in the truck block, slide the gear between the wheel set and tap back in place.  Be sure not get excess glue on the gear.

If the side frame can’t be removed from the bottom, remove the body and then drop the truck block low enough to remove the side frame.

Pics would help.
