Got my first AF train in 1950 - father got it for me at a Firestone store - had SIT so must have been left over stock. Bought my last AF train in 1958 - then switched to HO. Desired  brass but the only reliable brand was PFM. Some company imported a PRR K5 in HO but could not afford it. Every fall used to obtain the latest AF and Lionel catalogues although AF catalogues were difficult to find - one year had to get one from a furniture store. Always wanted a AT&SF PA1 as it was the top of the line. Finally in 2020  Mario's Trains  had them on sale for $600 - last catalogued in 2017. Received mine and its a beauty. Smokes really too much but it runs fine. Only took me 70 years to get one.
