Hi All, Newbie setting up a new track for Christmas using DCS and AIU. I have a L shaped plan that is 8' on one side and by 12' on the other. Each end of the track has a reversing loop with manual switches. Is there a specific spot(s) that would be best to attach power from the AIU?? I was think of 3 drops - one in each loop and another in the middle. Is that overkill?? one Christmas Express ps3 MTH only.

No, not overkill at all. You might want to add a couple of more feeders to the mainline between the loops. You can find .110" female quick disconnects at most autoparts stores if you want to make your own feeders.
Here is a similar set up I did last year - a long dogbone powered in the middle(of each track passing the transformers, so, electrically, at opposite ends of the entire loop), and a long reverse loop just like yours powered at the loops/ends only. If you follow the loops around, you can see each of the connections:
