I have a Legacy system (990), and want to run convention trains. What units do I need, or can I just use a dpdt toggle switch and alternate between Legacy and direct Transformer connection. I have 3 different tracks and would like to run Legacy on one track and conventional on a different one. The various modules get confusing as to which one if any I need to have. (Transformer is the ZW-L, one with the meters.

You already have everything that you need. Program each output of the ZW-L as an engine or track. You the n dial up track power to full to run Legacy/TMCC or just control track power with the Legacy remote for conventional trains. This is how I run my layout.
Jeff, Thank you for your reply. I am actually helping a friend, and have not read the ZW-L manual. I sure didn't realize it had that potential. Think I will download the manual and read it.
Also, he has about 36 Ross switches DZ2500, installed instead of buying all the SC-2 units, think I will try the Z-Stuff DZ 2001 Data Wire Driver.

Call Z-Stuff about the data wire driver and let them know you need one for Legacy. I don't know if they just make them that way today. The TMCC versions had an issue with legacy that they fixed.
I believe running conventional with the ZW-L is the same as the ZW-C. I have the ZW-C and run conventional and TMCC all the time together, and enjoy it.
