i also like the tank's platform Alan--a milk can no less. I took many of those down to the highway for pick up during the 1940s.

Just completed new barn.

Did some "L-girder" bench work yesterday and today:

After a move and a couple years of everything boxed up, I finally finished my storage/display shelves in the new hobby room so I can get back to building structures.  I hope to use part of the shelving as a shelf layout type display...

Glenn I don't know any farmer that wouldn't be proud to own that barn.

wbg Pete, your shelves of beautifully built structures was one of my inspirations for my shelving system and focusing on structure building for awhile.   I hope to retire to a house in the future where I can build a layout like the one you show above.

Pete, love L-girder! The overhang on the last joists especially on the left side could be a bit spongy. When I had this much hanging out, I ran some diagonal braces back to the legs. If someone put their weight on that portion, it could be a problem.

Thank you also.  This is my 3rd large L-girder layout.  Any overhangs exceeding 18" received proper support  shortly after I took that overview photo. 

Excellent! I also see you've girdered the joists. That's probably overkill unless you're counteracting the overhangs. Once the risers are tied into the subroadbed they become very strong and very rigid. The whole L-girder scheme is building a strong network of seemingly less strong elements. It's a brilliant design. And especially when you compare it to layouts built out of 2 X lumber like the person is building a deck to support teenagers having a rock party.

Beautiful work everyone! Thanks as always for taking the time to post.  A little late to the Showcase this week but made some more progress on my build.  Floor and inner walls were prepared, cut, and glued into place.  Weathering of the corrugated roof has also been completed.  Should wrap her up by Sunday.
