I use the Z1000 with a TIU (fixed input 1) in my MTH G-Gauge setup. I didn't want to cut off the Z1000 5.5mm x 2.1mm connector so instead I got a jack to mate with it. I soldered the cut-off ends of red and black banana cords to the jack. I then attached the banana's to the TIU. Another idea is to buy a 5.5mm x 2.1mm pigtail connector and attach the stripped wire ends around the TIU red and black terminal posts.

The idea of not cutting off the end of the Z1000 worked well for me when the Z1000 transformer failed many years ago. I simply popped in a new one without further wiring hassle.

BTW, if you are planning to use the Z1000 with the MTH Z power controller then all you need are two wires (or red and black banana cords) to connect the power controller red-black terminals to the TIU's red-black terminals
