Mike, it looks great. Love the light blue paint, something I dearly wish I'd done with my room before the layout went in...

You're gettingso close now, I bet it's tough not to start cutting wood for the benchwork right now, huh?

Good that it's all buttoned up now, especially since it's warm outside.

Thanks Everyone,!

Lee I do want to cut some bench work so bad, but I have to start a little project for the wife called a SHE SHED. I will still be able to work on getting the layout going, but she need her little arts and craft place also! The good thing is it most windows so very little framing!

Mark, Thanks for the complement!

OK, out there at 4AM this morning, second coat of paint on the train room! Went to work for a few hours came back Looks great! So as far as I am concerned besides the few more lights the train room is DONE!

I have put some of the O scale stuff in there and locked the door LOL!

Next will be to get the bench work done on the door wall so I can get the bridge put in place!20180727_12595020180727_130008

I hope everyone has great plans for the weekend!

Looks awesome glad to see that you are finished with the room  now comes the fun part  enjoy

Congratulations Mike! What a wonderful space, you have created, for a model railroad. One thing that marvels me on this site is the diligence and work ethic of many of the men and women who post on here their projects, big and small. We have watched you start this project and conclude it and I know it was no easy task. Your determination is to be commended and thanks for letting us get a glimpse into this build.

Now that that is complete, your next phase will require popcorn and a "special" beverage for all who are viewing, lol.

Go Mike!

Dave

Thanks FL9TURBO, Mark, and LOVINDEMTRAINS! It sure is nice to be done with it! But the bench work just like the train room will be slow, but that's ok I have the rest of my life to work on it!

LOVINDEMTRAINS as far as the popcorn and drinks, I have the drinks. But the family store has my popcorn machine as they thought it would be good to hand out free popcorn to anyone who said hi and asked! Oh well, atleast I have a train room with a TV now!

My next post here I will change the title to Layout started, as soon as I start the bench work, I kinda have a start already with the lift bridge! Now all I have to do is marry the rest of the layout to it!

God Bless you all!

Mike,

I'm so happy for you, as I know what it feels like to finally have the space for any layout (no matter how big or small). You know there's a great deal of work ahead of you, but you also know it'll all be worth it (and some of it, you'll really enjoy).

Can't wait to see the progress and hopefully I'll get to see your layout in person someday (You are of course welcome to come down and see mine when you have a mind to).

Ahh, that looks much better Mike!! And the person that really needs to be happy is happy now too! Guess I mis-understood about the extra mud? But extra paint is better than extra mud anyway, IMO.

What kind of She Shed are you building for your wife? That sounds interesting too, but I know it takes time away from the trains room project. I would be interested in seeing some pics of that project as well. As nice as your train room addition turned out I am sure she will be pleased.

Lee, thank you for the kind words and the offer! One day I will make the short tri down to see your layout in person!

RTR, I am very happy! As for the She Shed, it is going to be a cross between a green house and a arts room for her to do whatever makes her little heart happy! I will throw in some picture of that from time to time also, Just for you RTR!

Hi Guys, thanks for the nice words! there will be a branch line that goes out the big window, but it is to run around the back of her she shed into her rock garden. She is into painting rocks and it will run threw there along with going by the fish pond then back!

I got the floor and one wall up today for the she Shed and I will post a couple pictures tomorrow, forgot to take some today!

Hi Everyone, its been a rough ride the last couple of days! But it will pass. I haven't posted much here lately cause I have been building my wife a She Shed! LOL

But the last couple of days I have been working on the train room. I got all the legs mounted to the walls, I have the "L" girders built and in place for the 2 long walls, with the 2 short walls to do. Then it will be time to cut a lot of 1 x 4 x 30" pieces and drill holes for the wiring. Then I can start putting them on the girders. Wasn't the nicest day to day, after my first 2 rips for the tops of my girders, the switch on my table saw went out and it took me an hour to track the problem and replace the switch. Got the last rip cut done and everything mounted. Lowered the bridge for the picture below and the darn switch went out on it, It would not go up!, Went and found another switch after I had to crawl out, got it replaced and all is good now. I hope you enjoy the update!01301420180819_10280720180819_10281520180819_16485720180819_16491920180819_164932

PDDMI, I really didn't think anyone would catch that!, But then again if anyone was going to I thought it might Paul2, as I joke with him on some of the things I find in his pictures! LOL

Yes BobbyD!  Isn’t Mike amazing!!!

Bob. AKA DAD, I am glad you like what you see so far! It means a lot to me coming from a guy that does woodworking for a living! I am always up for care packages! LOL Can never have to much train stuff! LOL

PLAYTRAINS, Bro thanks! I wouldn't hold my breath for a pre build bench and wiring! I am still waiting on a modern day Brewery! LOL

Brian, Thank you Sir, once the bench is done then it will be time to start buying a lot of track! LOL A little each payday! LOL

BOBBYD, I know! But I have O.C.D. when it comes to stuff like that! If the base wasn't level it would drive me Crazy!

HCSADER73, I am glad you like the bridge! I have also took your advice and put an extra switch in the train room!

You are most welcome and thanks for the upcoming 'She Shed' pics. Hope the 'Inspector' is also pleased with it, along with the wife!

Looking forward to seeing the pics, and glad you are just about finished there! More time for layout work with that completed.

Forgot to mention earlier that the bridge looks great too and is perfect for the doorway entrance there.

RICHIE C., No shims, but if needed I would have used them! That 360 Laser Level I bought, sure made things easy!

RTR Thanks, The pictures are below! Tank is a traitor as he likes the She Shed better! OH By the way I told the wife you wanted to see some pictures of it, and she said I better paint the trim first, so that is what I have been doing the last couple of hours! LOL

Mark, thank you! The Bridge is and Atlas double track bridge that is 40" long, but with the extension I made for the end it is 50" long!20180820_16563920180820_16565120180820_16570720180820_16573620180820_165751
