That looks great too! It's a really nice 'She Shed'! I'm sure it would have looked just as good with out the trim painted. Didn't want to cause you extra work there. I see the Inspector approves as well.

I think you're gonna have to learn to make Tank those special treats your wife makes for him. Of course, once he sees your trains running I bet he changes his mind about where he wants to hang out.

Thanks Guys, RTR Its all good I had to get it done before next weekend, cause she is having a girls weekend here and wanted it done anyways! I was just dragging my feet, cause I really don't like painting! LOL

Bro, your more then welcome to try and stay in it, You have to get the wife out first! You would have much better luck Staying in the train room! Insulated, power, T.V., and a Bathroom, fridge with beer, coffee maker, and a microwave incase you have to make your own dinner right on the other side of the door! LOL

Mike, 50” is great!!!  I see Tank is at home at the She Shed.  Is Mum pampering him!  She has it looking great already!

Mark, She sure is, he has been a momma's boy of late! Wherever she goes he fallows! Plus he likes his bed in the she shed then he does in the train room! Oh Well! LOL

50" works out great for the door, it gives me room to place it so I have nothing hanging in the doorway!

here's my thrown together "HE SHED"...

100 year old barn wood from my Mom & Dad....

                                                    still in progress...

                                            with out door work bench...

I don't have a He Shed, but some of my favorite benches, shelves, tool storage, etc. have been things I just cobbled together with scraps of left over wood. Usually to fit a certain space that nothing else would fit in. Not sure why, but I've preferred many of these cobbled together items over some of the store bought stuff I've had that served the same purpose?

here is a future project for you Mike...

At one point, I was seriously thinking of buying a 15" gauge mining locomotive and some flat cars with track, to run on the 'back 40' of my yard (1.3 acres in a thin rectangle, but we only use the front end so I have a large patch of empty flat space behind the back fence). My wife demanding I sell my WW2 Jeep to help pay for it killed the project (that and there was a question on if we'd have to move for work at the time and I didn't want to go to that much work just to tear it up soon afterward).

But for a while when I was pondering this, I took the plans for a depot very close to this to the guy who'd made our storage shed and asked if he could build me a depot with a large open door on one end to roll the stuff into when not in use (a dual engine house/depot, if you will). The plans looked a lot like this.

I must admit there are day I sort of wish I'd gone along with it anyway. But I wouldn't have my On30 layout now, if I'd had.

RTR, She is so looking forward to this coming weekend! All the girls are going to spend time drinking wine and decorating more of her She Shed! Which leaves me time for my train room. But the one small problem with that is lack of cash till next payday to do anything else but sit and dream! LOL

Lee, I think you made the right choice I would take a WWll jeep any day over a lot of stuff I have! Heck awhile back I thought about buying a duce and a half! LOL

Mark, you are so right! I have the space, Time, just slow with the money! LOL

LOL Isn't that how it goes! At one point I had the money but no time or space! Now I have all the time I want, my nice little space, but short on money!

Hi everyone, I know its been awhile from my last post. A lot has been going on, but the bad part is it wasn't with the layout!20180921_10015820180921_10020820180921_10431420180921_10431720180921_13054020180921_13054820180921_130611

My truck went down with a bad transmission which took money away from the layout! But because I have the best brother in the world, he brought me some more 1 x4 and 2 sheets of 1/2" plywood. I was able to put that all to good use. The cross members are predrilled for wire runs @2' on center. The top as I stated is 1/2" plywood and I have already climbed on it to check out the strength of the bench work and it holds my 190lbs, so I am happy. Paint is Coco brown.

Here are some update pictures! Enjoy!

Hi Mike , Semper Fi,.  Bill Seader 1/9 3rd Marine Division.  Take your meds MAC!  All the Best  Bill

Semper Fi Bill! Nice to see someone from the west side! LOL

Wild Mary (AKA NICK) Thanks, I got the idea from Chris A here on the forum! It sure is nice not having legs everywhere, makes it easy to put storage boxes under. As for the life bridge, drop me an Email, its in my profile. Will make things easier for you then having to search for it.

Thanks Dave and Brian, I try!

Your benchwork looks really nice Mike! Looks like cabinet maker quality there.  You are lucky to have a nice brother like that too. Good luck with the truck and hope you get caught up on that front soon. Looks like you are still making good progress too.

BTW, how did the Inspector do at the all girls party in the She Shed? Hope he got through it all ok and they didn't put gallons of that Foo-Foo smelling stuff on him! Of course, I imagine he got lots of treats too, which he probably really enjoyed.

RTR. thanks for the kind words, I have learned a lot from this forum and have tried to put it in the best way I could! I think it turned out looking ok, but most of all its strong and sturdy!

As for the inspector, well I hate to say it but he has become a She Shed watch dog instead of a train room buddy! He loves being in the She Shed with momma, but when he comes into the train room all he does is bark and growl! LOL

Bob, you don't miss a thing do you! I had a great friend that knew I was strapped and he sent them to me! You don't find to many people like that in this world anymore! I can tell you one thing though, ever since I joined this forum I have met and made more friend then I have over the past few years! What a great group of people!
