Weaver RS3 help.

Here's my main problem.

I found this post from back in Nov. of 2015. Bob Lavezzi of All About Trains bought the Weaver parts and can be reached at 1-908-925-6035, I'm not sure if this number is still any good?

WEll I can say  at the Strasburg Two rail show, Bob L. may have the three rail wheelset and gear. I know he has the two rail wheelset and gear.

From the photo below, those Brass Wipers should be wiping behind the wheelset and  NOT in front where the wheel faces the back of the truck sideframe.

The Weaver RS3 has a lot of different production models, you may be able to find one of the newer models, and use this for parts. IMO.  Your model should have a very nice detailed/ though delicate handrail assembly.   One of Weaver's last offerings was an RS3, though with very poor handrails.

Unfortuntaely, There are many differences between the Newer[ new century] "China Drive" Rs3 than the older Shaft Drive Rs3 that the O.P. has in his post. NOT much can be interchanged other than the Fuel tank and body shell.

The newer one has sturdier Metal Handrails that attach UNDER the plastic base. The drive train and attachment ot the metal frame is totally different than the tower/shaft drive of the old model. for 3 railers the newer model is preferred.

Does P&D Hobbies still produce/market the handrail set and all of those great detail parts for the RS-3? Miketg

I hope. The handrails would be nice but I also need an RS3 fuel tank. And whoever makes horns.

Joe, I may have a set of the original Weaver plastic handrails.  I’ll have to check my spare parts boxes to confirm I still have them, and if so, I’d be willing to send them to you at no charge if you want them.  That’s the least I can do for a fellow CNJ fan!

I may have the horn, too.  I bought a bunch of original Weaver spare parts (including quite a few horns) from Bob Lavezzi at a train show this past Fall.  Being a big CNJ fan myself, I’m pretty sure I bought a few horns in the CNJ “Deep Sea Green” color.  

Can you tell me if there is one horn or two on this engine?  Or just post a picture of the top of the shell and I’ll be able to tell by the # of holes.

Ok, from the pictures you posted above, it looks like it only had one horn in front of the cab on the long hood.  I’ll check my parts bins tonight and will let you know if I have one.

All weaver parts? CNJ #1601 was very generous and found a spare horn and handrails for me. All I need now is an RS fuel tank and an extra wheel and coupler. I don't need the entire dummy truck, do you think he'd have just a wheel?

RRRF4, I have you covered on the couplers, too...you'll see that I threw a couple "bonus" items in the envelope.

I definitely recommend that you reach out to Bob Lavezzi.  He still had a LOT of Weaver parts when I last saw him at a train show in October.  It's worth a shot!
