Weekend Photo Fun 2017 Fall York Edition

Here is something happen on interstate I-79 in WV today. Tractor and flatbed trailer had a 12 cyl. prime mover train engine on trailer they had a tire blowout lost control load shifted prime mover landed on interstate.

Good catch Jeff, lets hope it was on it way for a rebuild, I guess it is now.

Thanks John and looks like might have been going for a rebuild. They will have to replace engine i say block probably cracked up. The news people said it busted the cement on interstate it landed so hard.

NS SD70ACe 1160 leads northbound 165 over US 29 in Ruffin, NC on the Danville District 


Look closely & you will find NS SD70ACe 1111 heading eastbound as it crosses the Tug Fork River in downtown Welch, WV 


NS SD40E 6320 (ex CR 6706) shoves 20T past the Conrail era signals at CP MO in Cresson, PA


NS ES44AC 8031 passes the classic N&W era coal tower in Capels, WV on the Pokey 


NS 226 w/ SD70ACU 7249 leading, meets southbound 285 w/ ES44DC 7698 in downtown Atlanta

I'm envious of the weathering on your cars. Wish I had the expertise to do likewise to my engines and rolling stock. Great photos of superb scenes. I enjoyed viewing this.

This was totally my train fix for today. I have only seen your one car seen pics in the forum and always wondered what the rest of layout looked like. This is pure 3 rail awesomeness. Thanks for posting and please post more often.

On Tuesday got to visit Steamtown in Scranton, PA its great and also like a RR graveyard! Got some ideas for some new flatcars. And it was another great York and great to see and visit with many of you!

While I had a good time at York, and it was terrific seeing some good  friends this week, I didn't my take many photos so I'm gonna go with an Amtrak Theme this week.

I have been looking for and recently was very fortunate to find these AtlasO Amtrak Dash 8s. I always liked the Pepsi Can Scheme and found 2 different numbers.

Also this week I had the first Amtrak train pull into the Roanoke platform to check clearances.  Fittingly, the engine was an Amtrak Dash 8 but her days of wearing the Pepsi Can scheme have been gone for at least 10 years. 

Afterwards I brought the train down to the servicing facility to check the 480V standby system. If you look closely, you'll recognize this spot as where Scott Smith, his son Joshua and I took the photos with the NS safety train a few weeks ago that you'll read about in this months OGR magazine.  

Thanks everyone for sharing your photos. I enjoyed looking at all of them. Really nice.

A few short videos of the MTH Christmas offerings. They are top notch and lots of fun!

This LIRR site is crazy with hundreds of sub-links but a ton of info everywhere.

                Did the best I could using an old Weaver  2 bay hopper and the PC/Printer to make one.

No decals, every sign is a paper printout, sealed with dullcote or clear matt spray.

PC skills required -

Choose black background fill and white fonts in stencil. My delivery trucks and trailers are also done this way. Use MS word or excel, size to scale and print them out.

3 railers always seem to over complicate everything they do don't they?

 FYI - Several years ago on here (Sunday Showcase) someone did a layout with paper buildings. If I ever make another layout again, most decorations - buildings will be paper printouts in brick over boxes. I did this on my city buildings along the viaduct section.  Looks very real plus you can make it the way you want with full control.

Was it really necessary to move Weekend Photo Fun to the York Forum? Most of the pictures have nothing to do with York (Including my own). I just counted only two people here have posted York pictures.

Probably because is in the title.

Scott has had it in the title before and it was fine. I look forward to this thread every week and I could not find it without doing a search for Scott. Please put it back where it should be. How many people did not add their pictures because they could not find the thread?
