GREAT show as usual!!!!  Lots of bargains and even a good number of buyers.

Those into vintage WWII era O scale would have enjoyed it also - there were two tables of that era O scale including an Icken NYC electric that weighed at least 10 or 15 pounds.

And its always nice to see your train show buds and shoot the bull.

Another show Dunn!

I feel  spoiled to have such a great inlet and outlet (buys and sells) of 0 scale must haves.  The alternating selling and buying process at these shows is like a schizophrenic party.

Always a fun event with some of the nicest guys in the hobby!

Strasburg fire house;  great hosts , excellent parking, fantastic RR neighborhood.

Another great show. This time I was at the other side of the table. I came with a full trunk and empty wallet, and left with the reverse.  Might try to sell more stuff next time.  I might even part with this gem:

4074

Cleared a good bit of small "stuff" and managed to purchase next to nothing due to a scarcity of funds - there were many items that I otherwise would have brought home with me on Sat.

Oddly, I have been singularly unable to sell structures for 2 cycles of meets, so I'm giving up on that effort. I'll store them somewhere for some other audience that might want them some other day.

But, John, really?  You'd part with your favorite giraffe car???  Must be hard times down on the ranch.....

Hey...l went to once that show for structures (since so many other shows only have itty bitty and teeny weeny scale structure kits, if any) and only saw a few, not priced to sell. In the past l have found some there. Dig your moldy boxes out of the wine cellar next time, rent an 18 wheeler, ignore the asking price on the net, that includes "free" shipping from Bangladesh, and move some stuff, you won't have to reload.

One of a kind structures are a hit and miss as far as availability.  If you only went once you only saw a slice of merchandise.  My  RR has exactly 61 structures of many varieties all purchased at the Strasburg show.  Every one was priced at a "Please take me home" price.

In my opinion, you may want to make Strasburg a habit, each show has it's own "gotta haves".  I found coal facilities, icing facilities, many stations, stores, MOW buildings, Many towers,  shanties,  round houses, water towers, many turntables, small factory, cattle ramps, coal mine, single & multi stall diesel houses, oil racks, crossing gates, etc, etc.

Dear O Scale Forum members,

Thank you for making your Strasburg O Scale 2 Rail show a success for the close of our 9th year of fun and fellowship.

I say your show as Rich Yoder and I simply have provided a great venue and railroad town in Strasburg Pa. and your participation as a dealer, attendee, or a guy simply thinning his collection before the kids put it in the dumpster !!

Having fun promoting O Scale 2 rail.

You have no idea how much I want for it.

So far there are no confirmations to the rumor that it is a rare Lionel factory error......

It's rarity is directly related to your ownership and your autograph on the box,

Once is hardly a meaningful sampling of this show.

Right...... I tend not to give away custom built structures.  However I did price one for a teenager who wanted the engine house on my table back in August.  There are however others that were I to price a $100 bill on my table for $10, that would ask if I'd take $1 for it.

Ditto.

Structures have been my #2 purchase (behind rolling stock) at the Strasburg show, both kits and built-up.  This show has better variety and quality structures than TCA York, Allentown, or GSMTS Timonium.  Those shows are pretty much all cookie cutter MTH and Lionel built-ups.  I picked up a nice out-of-production Downtown Deco Kit on Saturday.

The secret is to never become to attached to anything you build.

Brian Scace once asked me that question "How you felt dumping your layouts and structures in the dumpster". I said I feel nothing they served their purpose and now I move on to more exciting things.

I have just given a pile of O scale structures and other items to the local club one model I kept was the little Hot Rod workshop I built in O scale Maybe one day it to will go, at the moment I like looking at it to bad I can't fit it on the layout somewhere.

Don't get sentimental about your trains your kids won't!   Roo.

That's far easier written and stated than done.  I've managed to sell off quite a lot of stuff that I've built over the past couple of years so separation anxiety is not the issue.

Throwing away perfectly useful stuff - I'd prefer to toss it to someone that at least can find the use of it.

Marty.

Over the years I have given many items of value to people that have a use for them but it gets to the stage where the dumpster is the only resort.

I have rang people and asked them would you like all these items free and they say yes but can you keep the stuff till next week I'm a bit tied up at the moment and they only live a mile away from me  I say no today or the dumpster they arrive within 10 minutes other times with books it's well I would like that one and that one but not these and they are free! People are funny sometimes you offer things as a lot for free but they want to pick and chose no wonder the dumpster is tempting. To clean up your hobby of 50 years or more up you have to make tough decisions.

Keep in mind USA O scale is very very rare over here compared to other scales, in America it seems you can sell a lot of your unwanted items at shows that don't exist in West Australia.

I am very happy the way this clean out has turned out I actually have a lot more room to move around and build things for the layout in the space that was originally just storing unwanted items it's been worth it. Roo.

Very sad.  I've not ever reached that point. Sadly I also know that the prices that I put on stuff at meets is low enough that I later see it on the buyer's table at double (or more) the price.

I have however sold things very cheaply particularly to younger folks that are still in school attending with a parent and in some cases just given stuff away.  The happy look on the face is beyond value.

That is something that is very common at non train swap meets over here usually happens early when setting up before the public front up, people come along offer a price you take it next minute it's on another table at as you say twice or more the price. I guess that's the capitalist system working!
