I'd like to replace some stock Williams boxcar trucks, and am seeking advice from Forum members who may have had success with this in the past. Can you please suggest truck brands/models that could be compatible with Williams boxcars? 3-rail, preferably something that will allow the car to ride a bit lower.

The only way you would make a 3 rail bolsterless freight car ride lower is to add the bolster and use MTH/Weaver models/Atlas O trucks made for bolster freight cars. Other wise stack washers until just clear of the wheel flange and use the bolsterless trucks.
I have replaced the Williams trucks with Lionel MPC era trucks so they ride lower like the Franks Roundhouse Cars. I never have to oil them! They are plastic but look better than what Williams is using.
