I am visiting a relative and out pops an old crusty 233w tender, broken wires, lots of rust...so I tear into it.  Replace wires to each truck, clean up the brushes and commutator, relay looks good with the wires still attached, I soldered the two truck wires to the post with one lead already attached...3 wires to front lug.  put on the track...shorts.  with leads attached, I can get the motor to spin but no whistle, it's like the polarity is reversed and it is sucking air rather than blowing it.  Can anyone post a diagram of the wiring for the 233W showing where the wires should be.  My lionel repair manual is at home and I happen to be in Scranton for the weekend.  Thanks

If you mean the whistle motor is running the wrong direction, all you have to do is reverse the relationship of the filed coil in relation to the commutator and then the whistle motor will run in the other direction!

Alan              P.S. either reverse the field coil OR the commutator but not both!

OK
