A friend came up to me at yesterdays TTOS SP meet and handed me a butt ugly 259E & 1689T. He insinuated I needed them because they looked a lot like me.

Got most of the body work done, now waiting for an order of repro shiny pieces from The Train Tender. While waiting for those, I'll get the motor ready.

This is a later version so it had the satin black, blackened wheels and journals. I prefer shiny, so I went gloss with a red frame.

Steve,

I love the Red Frame with the shiny Black body shell, can't wait to see this baby pulling it's consist of 2600 rolling stock.  My 259E is an early completely shiny black with the matching Tender & Brass hard ware.  The Red frame work on yours really makes the 259E a seriously classy engine.  A big time Restoration Steve.

Great job as usual buddy.

Most of the time I prefer Rustoleum. Gives a much better sheen than Krylon.
Sometimes the need for a particular color causes me to use Krylon, but then it needs a clear coat to compensate for the lack of gloss.

These 1600 series coaches have been in the display case in need of some motive power. They now have it.

Side rods, domes, stack and headlight are repro's from Jeff Kane. The connecting and actuating rods are the originals. The hand rails are original, but the nickel was buffed off down to brass. The sand dome pipes were made from some brass rod in the junk box.
